Toronto 2021-ben csatlakozott a nemzetközi Gallery Weekend városokhoz. Az első torontói eseményt szeptember 23-26. között tartották.
A Kortárs Művészeti Galériák Szövetsége (AGAC) által rendezett GWToronto eseményen 22 galéria vett részt, 3 útvonalon megszervezett galériatúrát, 80+ kiállítást és egyéni programot látogathattak meg a résztvevők.
Az esemény helyszínein és az online térben különböző programokat (beszélgetések, látogatások stb.), és kiállítást fedezhettek fel a látogatók, valamint megismerkedhettek a galériatulajdonosokkal, művészekkel és a művészeti világ további kulcsszereplőivel. A GWToronto által kínált galériatúrák lehetőséget adtak a városban való sétálgatásra, a galériák felfedezésére, és arra is hogy az érdeklődők megismerkedjenek a műgyűjtéssel.
Cél a helyi művészet előtérbe helyezése, a közel másfél év utáni nyitással ez a rendezvény lehetővé tette a művészetkedvelők számára, hogy újra kapcsolódjanak a helyi kulturális élethez. A GW azzal is kitűnik a programok sorából, hogy ingyenes rendezvény, így mindenki számára elérhető. Ez az egyedülálló esemény kihagyhatatlan lehetőséget nyújtott a kortárs művészethez kevésbé értők számára, hogy megismerjék ezt a területet, míg a lelkes gyűjtők számára lehetővé teszi, hogy gazdagítsák gyűjteményüket.
"A 'Gallery Weekend' fesztiválok népszerű események minden nagyobb kulturális fővárosban, ezért az AGAC úgy döntött, hogy Torontóba hozza ezt a nagyszerű együttműködési kezdeményezést, hogy új közönséget toborozzon és visszahozza az életet az utcákra" - mondta Julie Lacroix, az AGAC igazgatója. GALLERY WEEKEND TORONTO
Toronto joined to the international cities for the first-ever Toronto Gallery Weekend in 2021, September 23-26. The Contemporary Art Galleries Association brings together 22 participating galleries over 3 custom routes, to view 80+ artists and custom programming.
The Contemporary Art Galleries Association (AGAC) organized the first edition of Gallery Weekend Toronto in September 23rd to 26th.
Galleries opened their doors to the public during the 4 days of the event with a special schedule, programming and exhibitions. Through various activities on-site or via social networks (discussions, visits, etc.), it was a time to discover numerous exhibitions, to meet and exchange with gallery owners, artists and other key players of the art world. The Gallery Weekend Toronto routes were a great opportunity to stroll through the city, discover the galleries, and learn about art collecting.
After nearly a year and a half of telecommuting and with many services reopening, the event allowed art enthusiasts to reconnect with local cultural life. The Gallery Weekend stands out by being a free event, making it accessible to all. For the duration of the event, visitors had the opportunity to enjoy one itinerary after another, which were take them to different areas of the city, while enjoying an original program that encourages interactions with artists and gallery owners. This unique event is a must for all: it was an opportunity for those who are less familiar with contemporary art to become aware of this field, whereas it will allow avid collectors to enrich their collections.
